Abstract

The author of the article notes that the expediency of the problem of national security of Ukraine is a historical phenomenon, namely the development of relations with states entails an increase in the number of military conflicts, natural and man-made disasters, human and material losses. In this regard, the author notes that the protection of national interests as the basis of national security of Ukraine should be considered through the prism of historical relations of states. Only in the process of interaction of states, social and national groups is the necessary level of protection of national interests from hidden threats and direct dangers determined and achieved. The article emphasizes the need to establish an effective strategy aimed at stopping the existing aggression and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally defined state border, in accordance with the principles of international law. Accordingly, the President of Ukraine, acting in conjunction with the government, must form a strong system of national security, based on the interconnected components of the security and defense sector, governmental and nongovernmental institutions, organizations, civil society, and other entities with act as a whole and solve all the tasks assigned to the sphere of national security and defense. The author points out that some decrees of the President of Ukraine are already being appealed and will be appealed in courts. But if we take into account the unpredictability of Ukrainian courts, it will take years. The purpose of the article is to study the main powers of the President of Ukraine in the field of national security. It is determined that the current Constitution of Ukraine notes the powers of the President of Ukraine in the field of national security, but the authorities under the President of Ukraine are more supportive, and their powers are insufficiently regulated. Possible prospects for improving the current legislation are formulated.
